On March 6th 2006, R&S project directors May Zhang and Megan, and volunteer Lynn Liu
attended the Shanghai High School’s Roots&Shoots events. At the event we once again
introduced our Dragon Recycling program to the curious young students.
We arrived at lunchtime and entered a hall crowded with young people, which was the very
scene of their event along with many other groups. The R&S group members brought pictures
of R&S, products made by recycled materials and other cute gifts to share at the event. In
addition, we bright the video of our Dragon ecycling project and played it for the public.
presentation was are very well received, and drew the focus of the crowed.
Then, more and more young students gathered around us and asked us different questions
about R&S and the Dragon Recycling project. May Zhang explained the importance of
recycling the print cartridges and the meaning of our project. Although they knew very little
about recycling they quickly became recycling enthusiasts. R&S materials were very popular
and were picked up by the students within minutes while members of R&S group were busy
“selling” the Dragon Recycling project. The event ended smoothly, and we are pleased to have
built even more student support.
In one successful event, Shanghai High School’s R&S group did a good job. And we inspired
by the students energy. As the first step in promotion of the Dragon Recycling project in
secondary schools was productive and are encouraging.
